Offshore domains for publishers and bloggers

A complaint about what you publish should be decided by a judge, not by a form. Here is what that means at Isthmus Domains, and the short list of cases where we act at once.

Quick answer

Which offshore domain registrar suits publishers and bloggers?

For publishers and bloggers, as of 19 October 2026, a complaint about copyright, defamation or politics does not suspend a domain at Isthmus Domains: we need a decision from a Panamanian court. A .com costs $11.99/year. Isthmus Domains is an offshore domain registrar in Panama: register any domain with no KYC and pay in crypto.

What happens when someone complains about my article?

Nothing happens to the domain on the complaint alone. A complaint about copyright, defamation, politics or from a competitor does not get a domain suspended. The person who complains needs a decision from a Panamanian court.

If they won a judgment in another country, it has no effect on us until Panama's Supreme Court (Fourth Chamber) recognises it. Under article 1419 of Panama's Código Judicial, a foreign judgment has the force that treaties give it, and without a treaty it can be enforced unless the other country does not enforce Panamanian judgments. This is not legal advice. The full process: complaints and court orders.

Can a lawyer or a government get my name from you?

Not without Panamanian legal process. DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case: no disclosure to a foreign lawyer, a private company or a foreign government on their request alone. And we do not hold your name: the only contact data we collect is your email.

Panama's Constitution (article 29) also protects private correspondence and documents, which can be examined only on the order of a competent authority. More: why Panama.

What do you suspend at once?

A short, public list. Phishing (including pharming), malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material, and fraud that takes money from victims lead to suspension on a well-documented report, within 24 hours of a well-documented report. Fraud here means fake shops, investment and crypto scams, wallet drainers, impersonation of a bank or brand, and sale of stolen data. For child sexual abuse material, action is taken immediately, with a report to the competent hotline or authority.

Spam counts only when it carries one of these abuses. Opinion, criticism, reviews and satire are not on the list: they go to a court. The rules in full: acceptable use and abuse reports.

What does an offshore domain not protect?

It protects the domain, not the rest of your site. Your hosting company, your CDN and your newsletter provider apply their own policies and their own law. A host can remove a page even if the domain stays active.

The registry and our registrar partner also keep their own rules: for a .com, Verisign holds no registrant contact data, while a registry such as .org (PIR) keeps the registrant record under its own law. And offshore does not mean above the law: you remain responsible for what you publish under the law that applies to you. For the legal side, read is offshore domain registration legal?.

Should a publisher add Domain protection?

Add it if you do not want to be the registrant of record at all. Base WHOIS privacy hides your email from the public where the extension allows it, but you stay the registrant, and registries such as .org or .io hold the registrant record. With Domain protection, at +$29 a year per domain, the registrant record and WHOIS show DomaineGoat LLC, never you.

It also means every complaint is read by a person before any action on the domain, and you are told when the law allows it; that review comes only with the option. It keeps you out of the registrant record; it is not an exemption from the rules: phishing, malware and child sexual abuse material are still handled at once. To see what the public record shows today, read check what WHOIS shows.

Publishers and bloggers: FAQ

Will you suspend my blog after a DMCA notice?

Not on the notice alone. A copyright complaint, including a US DMCA notice, needs a decision from a Panamanian court before we act on the domain. A foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama. Your host, the registry and our accredited registrar partner may apply their own policies, so check your host's rules as well.

Can someone suing me for defamation get my domain taken down?

Only with a decision from a Panamanian court, or a foreign judgment that Panama's Supreme Court has recognised. A letter, a form or a threat of legal action does not change the status of the domain. This is not legal advice: talk to a lawyer about the claim itself.

Do you tell me when someone asks for my data?

With Domain protection, you are told about complaints when the law allows it, and a person reads each one before any action on the domain. With or without it, the same disclosure rule applies: DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case.

Do I need to give my real name to register?

No name is asked: the only contact data we collect is one email per domain, and you upload no ID, selfie or ID number. ICANN requires one check: the registrant email is verified after registration, as ICANN rules require (within 15 days). The email stays private. With Domain protection, the registrant record and WHOIS show DomaineGoat LLC instead of you.

What if my site is accused of phishing by mistake?

Phishing reports must be well documented before we act. If a domain is suspended by mistake, contact support with the details, and we review the case. Email replies within 12 hours, 7 days a week, including help with DNS, transfers and renewals. Keep your site free of compromised plugins, since hacked blogs are a common source of real phishing pages.

How much does a domain for a blog cost?

A .com costs $11.99/year to register and $11.99/year to renew, as of 19 October 2026. A .blog starts at $25.99 and a .net at $12.99. Domain protection adds $29 a year per domain. All prices: pricing.
