Quick answer
Can I register a .com domain offshore without KYC?
Yes. Anyone can register a .com, and Verisign sets no residency rule. Isthmus Domains asks for one verified email, no ID document, and includes WHOIS privacy on every .com. At Isthmus Domains, an offshore domain registrar in Panama, a .com costs $11.99/year the first year and $11.99/year to renew (19 October 2026), paid in crypto with no KYC.

The search checks .com availability live against the Verisign registry over RDAP, so a free result means the name is open right now.
.com price per year
| Extension | 1st year | Renewal | Transfer | WHOIS privacy | Restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| .com | $11.99 | $11.99 | $11.99 | Free | None |
On .com the first year and every renewal cost the same; if Verisign raises its fee, a new price applies to future periods only and is dated on this page and in pricing.json.

Who may hold a .com, and is an ID check part of the process?
Anyone may hold a .com. Verisign, the registry, has no citizenship, residency or business test. ICANN rules require the registrant email to be verified, and every domain is registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner. That email check is the only one. There is no passport scan, no selfie and no proof of address. We store the email privately and use it for account notices and renewal reminders. Payment is crypto only, so no bank card links you to the order either. Being offshore does not put a .com above the law: ICANN rules and Verisign policy still apply in full. See register a domain without KYC for the full process.
What a public .com lookup returns
Since 28 January 2025, RDAP has replaced the old WHOIS service for generic extensions like .com. Anyone can query a name at lookup.icann.org. For a .com registered with us, that lookup shows our privacy contact, not your email, which is the only contact data we collect. Technical data stays public: the registrar, the nameservers, the creation and expiry dates and the status codes. Verisign, the .com registry, is a thin registry: it receives no registrant contact data, and its RDAP shows only the registrar, the nameservers and the dates. You can test the result yourself with our guide to checking what WHOIS shows.
Putting a .com in our company name
The optional Domain protection goes one step further than privacy. The .com is registered in our company name, so the registrant record held by our registrar partner and public RDAP show us, never you; Verisign holds no contact data either way. A transfer lock is on by default, and every transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account. We hold only your email. We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. A person reviews every complaint before any action. You stay the beneficiary, in full control.
Verisign and forty years of .com
.com is one of the original top-level domains of 1985. The first name, symbolics.com, was registered on 15 March 1985. Network Solutions ran operations in the 1990s; Verisign later acquired it and still operates the registry. Wikipedia reports about 161 million .com names in late 2025. Verisign charges registrars a wholesale fee of $10.26 per name per year, plus a $0.20 ICANN fee. That wholesale fee rises to $10.97 on 1 November 2026. Every registrar pays the same base, so .com prices differ only by margin and promotions. Ours is built on that public cost; see pricing.
Where a .com earns its place
| Use | Why .com fits |
|---|---|
| Main company website | Visitors type .com by habit, so the name is easy to remember and share. |
| Online product or SaaS | Customers in every country recognise it, and it ties you to no single nation. |
| Email for a team | Addresses at a .com look familiar and are rarely mistyped. |
| Brand defence | Holding the .com of your brand keeps it out of other hands. |
Things to know before buying a .com
Short and pronounceable .com names are mostly taken, so expect to try several ideas. Some registrars sell the first year at a promotional price and then renew far higher; compare the renewal figure, not the teaser. The Verisign fee rises on 1 November 2026, and other registrars may raise prices after that date. ICANN transfer policy locks a new .com for 60 days, so you cannot move it to another registrar at once. Finally, privacy does not shield abuse: phishing, malware, botnets, CSAM and fraud against victims lead to suspension on a documented report.
What other registrars charge for .com
We do not claim the best .com price. Porkbun lists .com at $11.08 for the first year and for renewal, checked on 19 October 2026. Cloudflare Registrar sold it at cost, $10.46, on 8 October 2026, but documents no crypto payment. Namecheap showed $6.48 for new customers with a promo code, then $18.48 to renew ($14.78 with a renewal code), on 19 October 2026. Offshore sellers cost more: OrangeWebsite lists €18.90 and 1984 Hosting $15.99. See the price index.
.com questions
Is it legal to register a .com through an offshore registrar?
Yes, in general. A .com bought through a Panama registrar follows the same ICANN and Verisign rules as one bought anywhere else. Offshore changes which courts can order us to act; it does not make illegal content legal. Your own country's laws still apply to you. Read our guide on whether offshore registration is legal. This is not legal advice.
Can a complaint get my .com suspended?
Not a complaint alone. Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a Panamanian court decision before we act. A foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama. Strict exceptions are handled at once: phishing, malware, botnets, CSAM and fraud that takes money from victims. Trademark disputes follow the UDRP. Details are on complaints and court orders.
Can I move an existing .com to Isthmus Domains?
Yes, once the name is more than 60 days past its registration or last transfer, as ICANN transfer policy requires. Ask your current registrar for the transfer code, start the transfer in your account and pay in crypto. A .com transfer adds one year to the expiry date. The transfer price is listed on the pricing page.
Which coins can I use to pay for a .com?
Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Litecoin, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, and USDC on ERC-20. We take no cards, PayPal or bank transfers. You top up a balance, send the exact amount shown on the right network, and the top-up is credited once the network confirms it. The crypto payment page shows each step.
