Register a domain without KYC: what we ask, and what we do not

KYC means proving who you are with an ID document. Isthmus Domains does not run it. One check remains, because ICANN requires it from every registrar: the email of each domain is verified.

Quick answer

Can I register a domain without KYC?

Yes. As of 19 October 2026, a .com at Isthmus Domains costs $11.99/year and needs no ID document, no selfie and no ID number. The only contact data we collect is one email per domain, required and verified as ICANN requires, and kept out of public WHOIS. Isthmus Domains is an offshore domain registrar in Panama: register any domain with no KYC and pay in crypto.

What we ask, and what we do not

ItemAsked by Isthmus Domains?Why
An email to open your account✗The client area opens without one
A verified email for each domain✓ICANN requires registrars to verify the registrant email; renewal notices go there too
Your name, postal address or phone number✗Not collected: the email is the only contact data we ask for
ID card, passport or driving licence✗No KYC
Selfie or video check✗No KYC
ID number or tax number✗No KYC
Card number or bank account✗Payment is crypto only
Your passwords, account number or transfer codes by email or chat✗We never ask for your password, your account number or your domain transfer (EPP) codes by email or chat

Why is one email still required?

Because ICANN requires the registrant contact to be verified, and domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner. The 2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement includes a Whois Accuracy Program: the registrant's email or phone must be verified within 15 days of registration.

At Isthmus Domains, the registrant email is verified after registration, as ICANN rules require (within 15 days). You click a link once, and the domain stays active. The email is then kept private. It is not shown in the public record wherever the registry allows privacy.

An email you control is also how you receive renewal notices and the transfer code. Use one you will still read in five years.

Who can see the email I give?

Not the public. Since the ICANN Registration Data Policy came into effect on 21 August 2025, registrars redact personal data from the public record. RDAP replaced WHOIS for generic extensions on 28 January 2025.

  • The public: sees the registrar, the dates, the status and the nameservers. Your email is hidden wherever the extension allows it; what stays public depends on each registry.
  • The registry: registries that hold registrant data, such as .org (PIR) or .io (Identity Digital), receive the registrant record under their own rules. The .com and .net registries (Verisign) are thin and receive no contact data.
  • Our registrar partner: the ICANN-accredited registrar through which the domain is registered holds the registrant record built from your verified email.
  • Us: we hold the verified email of each domain and the data needed to manage it. DomaineGoat LLC releases them only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case, where the dispute provider receives the registrant record.

Our guide shows how to check what WHOIS shows for your own domain.

Which extensions need more than an email?

For most extensions, the email is the only contact data we collect: ICANN requires the registrant contact to be verified, and we verify that email. Some country-code registries want a name and a postal address in the registration record. For those, we do not ask for yours. We sell them with Domain protection only: the registry receives the details of DomaineGoat LLC, and you stay the beneficiary.

The 12 extensions sold this way are .de, .uk, .nl, .cc, .to, .ch, .pl, .be, .at, .cz, .nz, .fi. Their prices already include the $29 a year for Domain protection. For example, a .de costs $36.99/year in total, and a .uk $38.49/year.

Some extensions are not in our list at all. The .us registry requires a link to the United States, and .eu requires residence or a seat in the European Union. Neither is in our price list.

Do other registrars ask for ID?

Some do, in some cases. As of October 2026, Namecheap's terms allow it to ask for an ID document and a selfie, through Veriff, in a dispute or an abuse case. Porkbun runs Veriff ID checks on part of its new accounts.

On the offshore side, OrangeWebsite in Iceland says it only asks for a valid email. Njalla registers the domain in its own name. Our offshore registrars compared by price (2026) also lists the KYC rule of each one, with dates and sources.

What does no KYC not cover?

No KYC means we do not check your identity. It does not make a domain invisible, and it does not change the abuse rules.

  • The blockchain is public: the amount and the addresses of a crypto payment can be seen by anyone who looks at the chain.
  • Your email is real: it is verified and stored. DomaineGoat LLC releases it only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case.
  • Abuse rules apply to everyone: phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud that takes money from victims lead to suspension on a well-documented report.
  • Trademark disputes on generic extensions follow the UDRP, and the dispute provider receives the registrant record. Country codes follow their registry's own dispute policy.

The no-KYC rule is about privacy and less paperwork. Read the acceptable use policy before you register.

Registering without KYC: FAQ

In most countries, yes. ICANN requires registrars to verify an email or a phone number, not an ID document. Isthmus Domains verifies the email of each domain, as ICANN requires. What you do with the domain is still judged by the law that applies to you. This is not legal advice. See is offshore domain registration legal?.

Can I use a new email address for each domain?

Yes. Each domain needs one verified email, and it can be a different address for each domain. Make sure you can still read it later: renewal notices, transfer codes and verification links are sent there. A lost email makes recovery harder.

What happens if I do not confirm the email?

The domain can be suspended. ICANN rules give 15 days to confirm the registrant email after registration. Once you click the link, the domain works again. You can ask for a new link from your account if the first one expired.

What details does a dispute provider receive?

In a UDRP trademark dispute, the provider receives the registrant record of the domain, as ICANN requires for generic extensions. For a standard registration, that record is built from your verified email: we collect no name, address or phone. With Domain protection, the registrant of record is DomaineGoat LLC; we tell you about the complaint, and you can defend yourself. See UDRP disputes.

Can I register a .de or a .uk without giving my address?

Yes, with Domain protection. These registries need a name and an address, so the domain is registered in the name of DomaineGoat LLC. A .de costs $36.99/year and a .uk $38.49/year, Domain protection included. You keep control of DNS, nameservers and renewals.

Is my email shown in the public WHOIS?

No, wherever the registry allows privacy. The public RDAP record shows the registrar, the dates, the status codes and the nameservers, while personal data is redacted. With Domain protection, the record shows DomaineGoat LLC instead of you. You can check any domain yourself at lookup.icann.org, step by step in our WHOIS guide.
