Quick answer
Can I register a .de domain offshore without KYC?
Yes, with Domain protection. DENIC needs a holder name and postal address, so our company DomaineGoat LLC is the registrant of record. You give us one verified email, no ID, and stay the beneficial owner. At Isthmus Domains, an offshore domain registrar in Panama, a .de costs $36.99/year the first year and $36.99/year to renew (19 October 2026), paid in crypto with no KYC.

What DENIC requires, and why you still skip KYC
DENIC accepts holders from any country, but its terms ask for a holder name and a postal address. A holder not domiciled in Germany must name an authorised recipient in Germany if DENIC requests one. DENIC's page on this gives two weeks to do so. Some registrars even demand a German contact up front. That is far more than one email, so we register every .de in the name of DomaineGoat LLC. You give us one verified email and no ID. Our company meets DENIC's rules; you control the domain.
What a .de lookup shows today
DENIC removed personal data from its public WHOIS when the GDPR took effect in 2018, and the admin contact was dropped at the same time. A public query on a .de now returns technical data such as status and nameservers. Behind that, DENIC keeps the holder data. For our .de names, that holder is DomaineGoat LLC, so even the registry's internal copy does not contain your name or address. Your verified email stays with us, kept private.
How Domain protection works on a .de
On .de, Domain protection is not an extra; it is how we sell the extension. DomaineGoat LLC sits in DENIC's records as holder. The transfer lock is on by default, so a transfer or DNS change needs confirmation from your account. We hold only your email. We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. A person reviews every complaint first. To hold the .de in your own name, transfer it out with the free code to a registrar that collects DENIC's data.
DENIC: Germany's cooperative registry
DENIC eG runs .de as a registered cooperative, whose members are domain companies. Members pay a fee to the cooperative, about $1.16 per domain per year according to an August 2026 survey. Non-members pay more, buying through a member. .de ranked among the ten largest country codes in Verisign's Domain Name Industry Brief for the second quarter of 2026. The registry supports DNSSEC and accented (IDN) names. Terms run one year at a time, per Amazon's registrar guide. .de disputes follow the registry's own dispute procedure.
Why buyers want a .de
| Use | Why .de fits |
|---|---|
| Selling to German customers | A local ending matches the language and market of the site. |
| German-language media | Blogs and news in German look at home on .de. |
| Market entry | A test site for Germany before opening a local company. |
| Brand defence | Keep the .de next to your .com so nobody else takes it. |
Points to check on .de
Because our company is the holder, any DENIC request goes to DomaineGoat LLC, not to you. DENIC applies German law and its own terms to the domain, whatever our Panamanian policy says. It also keeps its own copy of the data under that law, here our company's. Terms are one year at a time, so keep auto-renew on and enough balance. A fake German shop that takes payments and ships nothing is fraud, suspended on a documented report.
Registry cost behind a .de
The webhosting.today survey of 6 August 2026 estimated DENIC's member fee at about $1.16 per domain per year. Registrars that are not DENIC members buy through a member and pay more. Our .de total adds the yearly cost of Domain protection, because our company carries the holder role. Other registrars' retail .de prices were not checked for this page.
.de questions
Who is the legal holder of my .de?
DomaineGoat LLC, our company, is the holder in DENIC's records. You are the beneficial owner: you control DNS, nameservers and renewal from your account, and you can get the transfer code free. The arrangement exists because DENIC needs a holder name and postal address.
What if DENIC asks for a German authorised recipient?
The request goes to the holder, our company, not to you. DENIC can ask a holder outside Germany to name a recipient in Germany for legal documents. Our company has to answer it as the holder. You never have to give DENIC a German address.
Can I move my .de into my own name later?
Yes, by transferring it out. Request the free transfer code from the client area and move the .de to a registrar that collects the holder data DENIC requires. That registrar then puts you on the record. We charge nothing for leaving.
Does a German court order bind Isthmus Domains?
Not directly. A foreign judgment has no effect on us until Panama's Supreme Court (Fourth Chamber) recognises it. DENIC, however, is a German registry and applies German law to .de domains. Offshore registration does not place a .de outside German rules. This is not legal advice.
