Quick answer
Can I register a .cloud domain offshore without KYC?
Yes. The .cloud registry, the Italian company Aruba PEC, accepts registrants from any country. We ask for one verified email and no ID document, and the domain is registered in your name with WHOIS privacy on. At Isthmus Domains, an offshore domain registrar in Panama, a .cloud costs $20.99/year the first year and $22.99/year to renew (19 October 2026), paid in crypto with no KYC.

The search box checks .cloud availability live through RDAP, the lookup service that replaced WHOIS for generic extensions.
.cloud price per year
| Extension | 1st year | Renewal | Transfer | WHOIS privacy | Restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| .cloud | $20.99 | $22.99 | $22.99 | Free | None |
On .cloud the renewal is a little higher than the first year, so budget with the renewal figure if you plan to keep the name.

Who may hold a .cloud name, and is KYC needed?
Anyone may hold a .cloud name. The registry sets no rule on residency, citizenship or company status, and it does not check what you host. On our side the account needs one email address. We verify it after registration, because ICANN rules require that check for every generic extension. We do not ask for a passport, a selfie or a company number. Payment is in crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL or LTC. The page on registering without KYC explains the account flow from search to first DNS record.
What does a public lookup show for a .cloud domain?
A public RDAP or WHOIS lookup on a .cloud name shows the registrar, the creation and expiry dates, the nameservers and the domain status. With our included WHOIS privacy, the privacy service contact replaces your email, the only contact data we collect. The registry still keeps its own copy of the registration data under its own rules, as every registry does. You can run the same lookup yourself at lookup.icann.org. Our guide on checking what WHOIS shows walks through each field.
Should you add Domain protection to a .cloud name?
Add it if even the registry record should not carry your name. With the optional Domain protection, Aruba PEC and WHOIS see our company, DomaineGoat LLC, as registrant. A transfer lock is on by default: every transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account. We hold only your email. We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. A person reviews every complaint before any action. Details are on the Domain protection page.
Who runs .cloud?
The .cloud registry is ARUBA PEC S.p.A., the manager listed in the IANA root zone database. It is a new generic extension, so ICANN contracts apply in full. That means a verified registrant email, the UDRP for trademark disputes, and the DNS abuse duties added to registry and registrar contracts in 2024. The extension supports DNSSEC, which lets you sign your zone against forged answers. It does not accept accented (IDN) labels, only the letters a to z, digits and hyphens. Amazon's registrar guide lists terms from 1 to 10 years.
Where a .cloud address makes sense
| Use | Why .cloud fits |
|---|---|
| Hosting and VPS brands | A hosting control panel under a cloud word needs no explanation. |
| SaaS products | A short product name plus .cloud can replace a long, hyphenated .com. |
| Status pages and API endpoints | status.yourname.cloud keeps infrastructure apart from the marketing site. |
| Storage and backup tools | The extension describes the service before anyone clicks. |
What to check before buying a .cloud
Look at the renewal line, not only the first-year price: the two differ on .cloud. ICANN requires a verified email within 15 days, and an unconfirmed address can lead to suspension, so use an inbox you read. New registrations are locked against transfer for 60 days under the ICANN Transfer Policy. Hosting brands attract copycat login pages. A .cloud used for phishing is suspended on a well-documented report, under the same abuse rules that apply to every customer and extension.
.cloud questions
Is a .cloud domain only for cloud companies?
No. The registry sets no rule on how a .cloud name is used. Most buyers run hosting, storage or software products, but a personal project or a portfolio is also allowed. The name is registered in your name with WHOIS privacy, and you pay in crypto without sending any ID.
Can I use a .cloud domain with my own nameservers?
Yes. You can keep our free DNS hosting, with A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and CAA records. Or you can point the domain to 2 to 13 nameservers of your own. Hosting firms often run their own DNS, so both setups are common on .cloud. The registry supports DNSSEC as well.
What happens if someone complains about my .cloud site?
A complaint alone does not suspend the domain. For copyright, defamation or a competitor dispute we need a decision from a Panamanian court, and foreign judgments must first be recognised in Panama. Phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud are different: they are handled on a well-documented report. See complaints and court orders.
Can I transfer an existing .cloud domain to Isthmus Domains?
Yes, once the domain is more than 60 days old and unlocked at your current registrar. Ask that registrar for the transfer code, start the transfer from your account, and pay the transfer price in crypto. On generic extensions a transfer normally adds one year to the expiry date.
