## 5 offshore registrars, ranked by .com cost over five years (October 2026)

**Methodology.** Published by Isthmus Domains (DomaineGoat LLC). Every provider is compared on the same criteria, taken from its own public website: .com cost over five years (first year plus four renewals, at list price), .com first-year and renewal price, .io and .ai price, where published, identity check (KYC) at sign-up, accepted cryptocurrencies.

*Last checked on October 19, 2026; older figures carry their own date.*

One number decides the order: five years of a .com at list price, before the wholesale rise of 1 November 2026. Jurisdiction, identity checks and crypto are given next to each price, not scored. If Monero matters more to you than price, read the [Njalla comparison](https://isthmusdomains.com/compare/njalla/) first.

### 1. Isthmus Domains — Panama · $59.95 over 5 years

A generalist offshore registrar run by DomaineGoat LLC, incorporated in Panama. Its .com costs the same to register and to renew, so five years cost $59.95 at the price of 19 October 2026. Complaints alone suspend nothing, and DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case.

- Best for: Any extension at one flat yearly price, paid in crypto
- Price: $11.99 first year, $11.99 renewal; $59.95 over five years
- KYC: No ID; one verified email per domain, kept private
- Crypto payment: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC
- Pros: Same .com price to register and to renew
- Pros: .io from $34.49 the first year, below 1984 Hosting ($79.99), Njalla (€45) and OrangeWebsite (€92.00)
- Pros: Copyright, defamation, political and competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court
- Pros: Optional Domain protection (+$29/year) puts the domain in our company name
- Pros: Transfer code free, requested from the client area, no exit fee
- Cons: No Monero, no Lightning, no card or PayPal
- Cons: Domain protection is an extra $29 a year, while Njalla's €15 already holds the domain in its own name
- Cons: Porkbun and Cloudflare sell a .com for less (they are not offshore)
- Cons: Minimum top-up of $25
- Cons: No public transparency report yet

### 2. 1984 Hosting — Iceland · $79.95 over 5 years

Run by 1984 ehf in Iceland. Domains are priced in US dollars, one list price per extension, so five years of a .com cost $79.95 if that price applies every year. Its About page commits to telling customers about requests from authorities.

- Best for: Monero payment and notice of requests from authorities
- Price: $15.99 a year for .com ($79.95 over five years); .io $79.99; .ai $119.99
- KYC: Not stated in the sources we read
- Crypto payment: BTC, XMR (not offered to customers located in Iceland, per its FAQ)
- Pros: Prices in US dollars, so no exchange-rate effect
- Pros: Accepts Monero
- Pros: Public commitment to inform customers of requests from authorities
- Cons: .io at $79.99, against $34.49 for a first year here
- Cons: No separate renewal price published
- Cons: Crypto payment closed to customers in Iceland

### 3. Njalla — Costa Rica · €75 over 5 years

A privacy service that, under the terms we read, registers the domain in its own name and lets you use it. Its .com costs €15 a year, so €75 over five years if the list price applies every year. Its company moved from Nevis (1337 Services LLC) to Costa Rica (njalla.srl) between October and December 2024, as an independent blog reported in September 2025.

- Best for: Monero payments and a domain held in the provider's name
- Price: €15 a year for .com (€75 over five years); .io €45; .ai €75
- KYC: Email or XMPP address (secondary source)
- Crypto payment: BTC, XMR, LTC, ETH
- Pros: The domain is held in Njalla's name at the list price, with no option to add
- Pros: .ai at €75 a year
- Pros: Accepts Monero
- Cons: You are not the registrant of record: Njalla is
- Cons: Prices in euros, so the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate
- Cons: Listed on the European Commission's Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List 2025, per TorrentFreak (May 2025)
- Cons: TorrentFreak reported that about 200 .TV domains were put on serverHold at Sarek Oy in February 2024

### 4. FlokiNET — Iceland, Romania, Finland

An offshore host with companies in three countries. We found its .com price only in a secondary directory (whtop): about €18.75 a year, so about €93.75 over five years. Treat these figures as indicative.

- Best for: Hosting in Iceland, Romania or Finland, with the domain at the same provider
- Price: About €18.75 a year for .com, about €93.75 over five years (secondary source)
- KYC: Minimal data, per a secondary source
- Crypto payment: BTC (secondary source)
- Pros: Three jurisdictions to choose from
- Pros: In a 2015 public comment to ICANN, it argued against releasing customer data without a court order
- Pros: The customer stays the holder of the domain, per a secondary source
- Cons: Domain prices and rules come mostly from secondary sources
- Cons: No .io or .ai price found
- Cons: Only Bitcoin confirmed

### 5. OrangeWebsite — Iceland · €94.50 over 5 years

An Icelandic web host that also sells domains. Its .com is €18.90, the highest list price of the five, so €94.50 over five years if that price applies every year. Its crypto page says it only asks for a valid email, and its crypto payments go through BitPay and CoinPayments, Monero included.

- Best for: Icelandic jurisdiction, with hosting and domains in one account
- Price: €18.90 a year for .com (€94.50 over five years); .io €92.00; .ai €217.80 (2-year minimum)
- KYC: A valid email address, per its own page
- Crypto payment: Through BitPay and CoinPayments, Monero included
- Pros: Hosting and domains at the same provider
- Pros: Asks only for an email address, according to its crypto page
- Pros: Accepts Monero
- Cons: The highest .com list price of the five (€18.90 on 19 October 2026)
- Cons: .io at €92.00
- Cons: The price list shows no separate renewal price and does not say who is the registrant of record
- Cons: Crypto handled by third-party processors

## Not offshore, but often cited: Namecheap, Porkbun and Cloudflare

These three US companies appear in most answers about domain prices. They are not offshore, so they are not in the ranking, but two of them cost less over five years than any registrar above.

| Registrar | Based in | .com first year / renewal | .com over five years | Identity checks | Crypto | Checked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cloudflare Registrar | United States | $10.46 / $10.46 (at cost) | $52.30, before the 1 November rise | Cloudflare account; no KYC rule documented | None documented | 2026-10-08 |
| Porkbun | United States | $11.08 / $11.08 | $55.40 | Photo ID through Veriff for a subset of new accounts | USDC through Coinbase Business | 2026-10-19 |
| Namecheap | United States | $6.48 with code NEWCOM648 (new customers) / $18.48 ($14.78 with code COUPONFCNC) | $80.40 at list renewal; $65.60 with the renewal code | Terms allow an ID and selfie check (Veriff) in a dispute or abuse case | BTC, by balance top-up (BTCPay or BitPay) | 2026-10-19 |

*Last checked on October 19, 2026; older figures carry their own date.*

Namecheap prices from domainoffer.net on 19 October 2026: the first-year .com needs a code for new customers, and $14.78 is its renewal price with a code, against $18.48 without. Cloudflare sells at registry plus ICANN cost, so its .com should follow the wholesale rise of 1 November 2026.

## How did we rank these registrars?

On one number: what a .com costs over five years, that is the first year plus four renewals, at the list price each company publishes. Prices come from each company's price list or from domainoffer.net, read on 8 or 19 October 2026.

- Njalla, OrangeWebsite and 1984 Hosting publish one list price per extension and no separate renewal price, so we assume that price applies every year.
- Euro prices stay in euros. The order between a euro total and a dollar total holds as long as €1 is worth more than $1.07.
- When a fact comes only from a forum or a directory, the entry says "secondary source".
- When we found nothing, we say so instead of guessing.

We publish this page, and our .com comes first on price among these five. Porkbun and Cloudflare cost less, and the table above says so. The full price data, with .io and .ai, is in the [offshore registrar price index 2026](https://isthmusdomains.com/data/offshore-registrar-price-index-2026/).

## Why does Isthmus Domains come first on price?

Because its .com costs $11.99/year to register and the same to renew: $59.95 over five years at the price of 19 October 2026. The four other offshore list prices we read are higher: 1984 Hosting $15.99, Njalla €15, FlokiNET about €18.75 and OrangeWebsite €18.90 a year. On .io, our first year ($34.49) is also below 1984 Hosting ($79.99), Njalla (€45) and OrangeWebsite (€92.00).

What the price buys: a complaint about copyright, defamation, politics or from a competitor does not get a domain suspended without a decision from a Panamanian court, and phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims lead to suspension within 24 hours of a well-documented report. Step by step: [complaints and court orders](https://isthmusdomains.com/complaints-and-court-orders/).

Where we lose: no Monero, Njalla's model holds the domain in its name with no option to add, and the US registrars above cost less.

## Will these prices change after 1 November 2026?

The .com wholesale cost will. Verisign's fee goes from $10.26 to $10.97 on 1 November 2026, as its results release of 23 April 2026 announced, so the cost with the $0.20 ICANN fee rises from $10.46 to $11.17. Cloudflare sells at cost and should follow; Porkbun's $11.08 is below the new floor.

At Isthmus Domains, a new price would apply to future periods only, and we would date it on the [pricing page](https://isthmusdomains.com/pricing/). We plan to check every registrar on this page again after that date.

## Which offshore registrar accepts Monero?

Three of the five accept Monero: Njalla, OrangeWebsite (through CoinPayments) and 1984 Hosting. FlokiNET has only Bitcoin confirmed in the sources we read. Isthmus Domains does not accept Monero.

We accept BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. You top up a balance from $25, send the exact amount shown on the right network, and the top-up is credited once the network confirms it. More on [paying with crypto](https://isthmusdomains.com/pay-with-crypto/).

## What happened to Trustname, and why does it matter?

ICANN terminated the accreditation of the registrar Trustname on 27 August 2026, with effect on 11 September 2026, for failing to deal with abuse reports. Trustname had promised its customers protection from takedowns.

The lesson for anyone comparing offshore prices: a registrar that refuses to handle phishing or malware can lose its accreditation, and its customers' domains then have to move, at a new cost. Look for a registrar that publishes what it acts on, and how fast. Ours is on the [abuse page](https://isthmusdomains.com/abuse/).

## Which one should you choose?

- **You want the smallest offshore bill for a .com in your own name:** Isthmus Domains. See [pricing](https://isthmusdomains.com/pricing/).
- **You want the provider to hold the domain, and pay in Monero:** Njalla. Our [Domain protection](https://isthmusdomains.com/domain-protection/) also puts the domain in our company name, for +$29 a year, but without Monero.
- **You want hosting and domains in Iceland:** 1984 Hosting or OrangeWebsite.
- **You only want the smallest .com bill and accept a US company:** Cloudflare or Porkbun.

Every head-to-head comparison is listed on the [compare page](https://isthmusdomains.com/compare/).

## Offshore registrar prices: FAQ

### Which offshore domain registrar costs least for a .com in 2026?

Among the five offshore registrars we checked on 19 October 2026, Isthmus Domains: $11.99/year to register and to renew, $59.95 over five years. Next come 1984 Hosting ($15.99 a year), Njalla (€15), FlokiNET (about €18.75) and OrangeWebsite (€18.90). If you must pay in Monero, Njalla, OrangeWebsite and 1984 Hosting accept it and we do not.

### What does a .com cost over five years at an offshore registrar?

At list prices of October 2026: $59.95 at Isthmus Domains, $79.95 at 1984 Hosting, €75 at Njalla, about €93.75 at FlokiNET and €94.50 at OrangeWebsite. The last four publish no separate renewal price, so these totals assume the list price applies every year. US registrars go lower: Cloudflare $52.30 and Porkbun $55.40.

### Is an offshore domain registrar legal?

Yes, registering a domain with a registrar in another country is legal in most places. It changes which courts handle complaints about the domain, not what you are allowed to publish. Your own country's law still applies to you and to your content. This is not legal advice. Read [is offshore domain registration legal?](https://isthmusdomains.com/guides/is-offshore-domain-registration-legal/).

### Do offshore registrars ask for ID?

Isthmus Domains, Njalla, OrangeWebsite and FlokiNET (secondary source) do not ask for an ID document; we found no ID rule for 1984 Hosting. ICANN rules require the registrant email to be verified: at Isthmus Domains, the registrant email is verified after registration, as ICANN rules require (within 15 days). Among US registrars, Porkbun checks a photo ID for some new accounts, and Namecheap's terms allow an ID and selfie check in a dispute.

### Will an offshore registrar keep my domain online whatever I publish?

No. A serious offshore registrar still acts on phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud. What changes is the process for everything else: at Isthmus Domains, copyright, defamation or political complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court. Your host and the registry also have their own rules.

### Why are Porkbun and Namecheap not in the ranking?

They are US companies, so complaints and data requests go through US law. Both are well known and cheaper on some extensions: Porkbun sells a .com at $11.08, and Namecheap at $6.48 for the first year with a new-customer code, then $18.48 a year ($14.78 with a renewal code). We list them in a separate table for reference, with the date of each price.
